Expansite

In this context the ‘Mindsite’, which is part of the ‘Superarchive’*, becomes the generator of another entity called the ‘Expansesite’.
The ‘Expansesite’ is the configuration through which the images and thoughts deriving from the archive are made concrete via actual works and which in turn are arranged in a space, mixing with the paintings and going from the virtual space to the real one.
At a certain point, after having dedicated a lot of time to thinking about and cataloguing my site in the space, I felt the urge to move from the virtual level and return to the concrete one. It is true that I have always continued imperviously to have a relationship with the substance, spreading colours on the canvases, but at the same time I also felt the need to do so through those forms that came from an analysis of my work. I wanted to extend parts of the site in a physical reality so that they could go on to form a three-dimensional space, as if our bodies could effectively even traverse our thoughts.
Works were conceived as extensions, emanations of the ‘Archivearchive’ and the ‘Self-portrait’. They are panels, prints, video and audio projections which together with the corporeal works are disseminated around a space covered in wallpaper on which the image of another work, the ‘Sludge’, is printed **.
‘Works-document’ and ‘Documents-works’ thus contribute together to defining a space where it is not a question of making one thing prevail over another, but of remaining in the contradiction, at a point in the middle in which it is possible to constantly oscillate between the two. It is not about going in one direction or another, but of pushing backwards and forwards and sometimes bringing out elements which contribute to creating a complex microcosm. The visions of the brain-site coming out of the cranial space and the traces and dregs of the artist’s practice that emerge from the body together create data elaborated by the archive system which contains them – a sort of amalgamation of organic matter in which each single element (material works, like traces of a physical passage in this world and virtual works, like mental projections) contributes to creating a whole single living organism.

Obviously, the shape that all of this can take depends on the spaces and the situations. Everything could contract and fit into one very small room but could equally spread out and expand throughout a series of rooms.

To understand what the possible works are that could go on to prop up such a place, I am attaching a list of the works of the ‘Expansesite’ *** and should you want to examine them more in depth one by one, I suggest you go to the archive, searching under ‘Connections’ through the ‘Expansite list of works’.

*The place dedicated to the archiving of the work and its observation, the reasoning about the practice and its explication, including the interpretation that it is given.

**Reproduction of the greyish substance that forms in the bottom of my paintbrush holder over the years and which is also the background to the homepage of my site. It is a way of constantly remembering the presence of the substance that has generated everything.

***This list is taken from my archive. It was updated on 22-02-2022. It is always undergoing changes. In fact over time I can decide whether or not to include some works or take out others.
