Venice

These paintings were painted in 2006 when I had more or less started the series of ‘Sedimentations’. They belong to a time when I still had not defined the four sizes linked to the dimensions of the body.
In this case, the palette is linked to the colours of the lagoon, or rather to all the chromatic impressions that have surrounded me for years. The dimensions are very close to the proportions of the photograph I started to take every day of the point of encounter between water and architecture in the canal opposite my studio years later.
In 2021 I decided that this diptych would become a work alongside the enlargement of one of my photos from the ‘Waters’ series, thus creating a triptych composed of two paintings and a photo – a tribute to my adopted city.
