The tools of the trade

From the hand to the pencil to sign

“Each tool has its specific function, its task to perform.”
(From “The Craftsman” by Richard Sennett)

All those elements that over time have gradually gone on to make up my “toolbox”. All those objects that have slowly and precisely defined themselves and which have taken a shape determined by their use.

Objects for acting, for thinking, for touching, for documenting, for performing the daily ritual…

My body: the hands, the fingers.
The body’s prosthesis: the brush.
The space where the colour is formed: the bowl.
The work clothes: the overalls and shoes.
The pictorial space: the support, the canvas.
The tool for recording time: the camera.
The tool for thinking, for learning, for planning and for keeping in touch with the outside world: the computer.
