Simultaneously (40 "stratifications" for friends)

Between 2009 and 2010 I asked forty friends to participate in my “One Diary Leads to Another” project by giving me something to publish in the book on the subject of diaries, memory and the traces of one’s life. They could all participate however they wanted by contributing a work, a dedication, etc.
In exchange I gave each of them a painting, or rather a piece of my time, stratifying my colours over a long period just for them. This large wall of forty “Sedimentations”, of forty paintings, each measuring 60 x 50 cm, was created in my studio over a period of about a year. I worked on all of the canvases simultaneously. Every day I took a canvas from the large wall and isolated it on a certain point of the wall where I paint. I spread the colour daily and then put the canvas back in its place. The work was complete after a year, when all the canvases had been sufficiently stratified.
