L'intervento/Maria Morganti. Che cosa sono le corrispondenze

Text read during the presentation of Ludovico Pratesi’s book "New Italian art. L'arte italiana delle ultime generazioni" (Castelvecchi editore, Rome 2011) at Ca' Giustinian, the Venice Biennale head office.

In the introductory text and in the texts about individual artists, I found recurrent words and themes that are close to me; words that come to me, inspired by the artists’ work. Words that I listen to, that I identify with. They are terms that I recognise and that I feel a connection with. They are words that I feel are mine due to their assonance. They are words that resound in me, that are in the air and that perhaps belong to all of us a little.

When I hear certain words now that I heard in the 1980s and which at the time made me feel isolated, I can listen to them, hear them pronounced and resound in the air.
