In the intertìstices (Castelvecchio)

Fragments of sections of "Stratifications", applied on the back of the altarpiece by Liberale da Verona Carlo Scarpa at the Museum of Castelvecchio. This work was conceived for the exhibition "L'Unità di misura è il colore" at the Museum of Castelvecchio. My idea was to respect one of Carlo Scarpa’s intuitions that often show us the back as the front. He shows us that which we don’t normally see. The back becomes the front. I interpreted this sensation of the space and entered with my pictorial gesture, using my fragments of “Sections” of the Plasticine “Surfaces” to introduce myself into a new substance. Behind one of the museum’s paintings, in the support structure of Giambono’s painting that Scarpa left visible and which consists of rough wooden sticks, I infiltrated myself in the interstices, in the fissures between the pieces of wood, not imposing myself frontally, not altering it, but insinuating myself with small fragments of painting. It is as if the colour from the front were pushing towards the back and escaping.
