San Lorenzo #7

Work description and interpretation
This series was the result of my approach to Titian’s altarpiece in the Gesuiti Church. It is a painting which speaks of darkness, light, fire, flames, sparks, a glow… I sensed a little light whose small glow began to irradiate from an internal, dark space: the flame. A sudden small light which illuminates from within. The drawing starts from my daily colour, an imprint of oil paint which marks the origin of the drawing. From there, an etched gesture gradually spreads across the space until it fills the entire sheet of paper. Basically it is an energy machine which follows its own path.
