Work description and interpretation
Questo testo scritto mi è stato commissionato da Simone Menegoi per la rubrica online, “Osservatorio Arte Fiera” della fiera di Bologna affidata a personaggi del mondo dell’arte che avevano un legame con la fiera e il territorio. Veniva richiesto all’ospito di condividere una segnalazione: una mostra vista o da vedere un’opera che lo ha colpito, un’istituzione da visitare, un artista da riscoprire, legato a Bologna o all’Emilia-Romagna, così da dare “corpo territoriale” alla rubrica. Io decisi di parlare della mostra di Cesare Pietroiusti in programmazione al MAMbo prima ancora che fosse inaugurata rivolgendomi all’artista attraverso una lettera.
Ho deciso di attribuire lo statuto di opera ad alcuni dei miei scritti facendoli entrare nell’archivio come tali solo nel 2024. Questo testo è stato scritto senza la consapevolezza che in un futuro avrebbe assunto lo statuto di opera.

Artist's writings
The elements that make up the usual act of an artist’s writing are used here as an integral part of the system-process-work, so much so that I decided to catalogue them in the archive not just as documents but also as works.
They were written either because other artists asked for them, or they accompanied projects, or were read during conferences, or are published works and new writings. They are writings that almost never have an assertive-declarative structure, but which could rather be described as an epistolary-text, a confessional-text, an explicative-text of a feeling, an empathetic-text, a dedication-text, a description-text, a diary-text, an examination-text, a dialogue-text, etc.
Concept
Do you start from an idea or an instinct? What comes first: the concept or the substance? This is the first question I asked myself. Then I left it up in the air.
