Work description and interpretation
A set of cards created from a selection of the most significant works from the archive. A pack of playing cards as a tool for reasoning and opening new visual and mental connections. Each card contains an image (the photo of an entire work or a detail) and a word (the concentration of the work’s meaning): placed in relation with all the other cards, it constitutes the maximum summation of a whole, of my universe.
Instead of creating a cognitive map with the aim of creating links and junctures, I have decided to keep each element free of any pre-conceived or fixed connection. The cards – which are linked to the idea of play – lead to different associations, to games with invented rules, to random arbitrary relationships that open up new visions each time.
Over time, a microcosm has gradually been delineated in my studio, slowly superimposing one thing with another. A soft framework has formed onto which other things have been added or from which other things have derived. Now all this atlas of subjects, which are like figures, characters, is ready to generate new connections and meanings. And I have become a figure amongst the figures, dragging myself out of my world to look at myself with detachment and at the same time allowing anyone to play or interact with this reality, permeating it with their own.

Apparatuses
"I decide to use all of those elements usually considered as equipment, tools, systems which transmit the work, such as the caption, the site, the archive etc., as an integral part of my work. It is almost as though I were going to define a sort of ecosystem, a world that is capable of defining itself.
All the works that are part of other series also belong to this one." Maria Morganti (2023)
