Artist writing #34

Sono stata invitata da Mariateresa Sartori a scrivere un testo sul suo video-interpretazione dell’opera musicale di John Woolrich. Il testo è stato pubblicato in una sezione del sito del musicista dove ha chiesto a varie persone di commentare le varie interpretazioni che altri artisti hanno dato del suo lavoro.
Ho deciso di attribuire lo statuto di opera ad alcuni dei miei scritti facendoli entrare nell’archivio come tali solo nel 2024. Questo testo è stato scritto senza la consapevolezza che in un futuro avrebbe assunto lo statuto di opera.

Artist's writings
The elements that make up the usual act of an artist’s writing are used here as an integral part of the system-process-work, so much so that I decided to catalogue them in the archive not just as documents but also as works.
They were written either because other artists asked for them, or they accompanied projects, or were read during conferences, or are published works and new writings. They are writings that almost never have an assertive-declarative structure, but which could rather be described as an epistolary-text, a confessional-text, an explicative-text of a feeling, an empathetic-text, a dedication-text, a description-text, a diary-text, an examination-text, a dialogue-text, etc.

Concept
Do you start from an idea or an instinct? What comes first: the concept or the substance? This is the first question I asked myself. Then I left it up in the air.
