Ceramics ("domes-plates")

My contact with clay as a child subsequently determined my relationship with painting: spreading a substance on a two-dimensional surface. The use of enamels in ceramics is what determined my relationship with colour. The coloured powder that is spread onto the clay is not the same colour that appears when it comes out of the kiln. What you see is not what it will be. You do not choose the colour for how it appears but for what you imagine it will become.

DOME – PLATE
In the period in which I was copying actual cupolas and paintings that described an internal and concave space (practically the inside of my body) I had the desire to take up ceramics again: earth, substance, clay. I kept to a traditional form: the plate. I sensed these circularities as though they were my cupolas, my internal and concave spaces.
Inside this cavity I painted with my red: a pure substance that is fixed with the use of fire.
