Lifting (one painting from an other)

"We shall enquire, from a a theoretical point of view, about the strength inherent in the desire to rise and on the shaping that this form requires. "
(From Georges Didi - Huberman's seminar on "Lifting / Uprising ", Department of Project Cultures, Workshop on theory of images, research unit at IUAV University, Venice, April 2016).
The content of this chapter is a visual note, a reasoning by images, the representation of a gesture. It originated from the action of lifting a series of hung painted canvases, superimposed and accumulated one above the other. The desire to see again, to discover, to go backwards. The desire to retrace a route, to reconstruct memory through images.
