Garden (hortus unicorni)

HORTUS UNICORNI

Carmengloria Morales invited me to create an open-air work. Trying to imagine how to transfer my pictorial gesture outside the studio, I thought of a coloured material that you could take in your hands to touch things in nature: grass, leaves and trees. In the studio I started with my usual method of layering with these colours, one day after another. I then cut my painting into slices and thought of using it like a pictorial element to associate with nature. I hugged a tree, painting it with a ring of Plasticine, adding a human layer to the trunk. A band of layers of Plasticine surround the trunk of a tree, remaining attached simply via the pressure of my fingers.
